About Toby
As a youngster, I was intrigued with my mother's sewing machine, which was sitting
on a shelf gathering dust. Teaching myself to sew at the age of 8, I made myself a skirt and vest
to wear to school and have been sewing ever since.
I grew up in
Chelsea, Massachusetts, a city bordering Boston, and moved to Maryland upon graduation from
college to work for the Federal Government. In 1996, my sewing hobby became my
part-time sewing business when I wanted to know if I could sell my creations to
a perfect stranger. Hundreds of shows and thousands of orders and sales later, I
believe I have the answer to that question.
I retired from my government job in 2002 to
pursue my business full-time and am particularly excited to be using the
latest sewing technology. No matter what changes my life has seen, my love of sewing
and fascination with interesting fabric have remained constant. My finished products
exemplify a keen eye for detail coupled with the passion to transform simple pieces
of fabric into beautiful, practical, and unique creations. This has earned me countless
compliments for quality and eye-appeal on my entire range of products.
The dog in the picture is our Chihuahua Mickey. No, he is not interested in sewing. Yes,
the sewing room is off limits to him, although he would like to be in there observing.
All products you see are made by me in my smoke-free home in the USA.
